Don Womack: West Beach Communities: Chame
between Punta Chame and Gorgona, is just a short drive to
Coronado, the hub of the West Beaches. Known for gorgeous
mountain views and incredible weather, it is a quiet community that,
although it is small, has two entrances!
Developers have just begun to realize that Chame offers some of the
best mountain views, is close to the beach communities, is easily
accessed from the PanAmerican Highway, and is just about a 40
minute drive to Panama City or the mountains of Altos del Maria.
Although not surrounded by beaches, the land around Chame is
wonderful for growing due to its fertile soil. Rivers wind through this
area and there are new developments and shopping areas growing
on both sides of the PanAmerican Highway.
Chame, with its Post Office, government offices, restaurants, and
small shops along the highway, is bustling at this entrance, but
tranquil as you drive further into the residential area. Bus service
East or West on the PanAmerican Highway is available here.
